When he's not writing for AJL... Rob Bloom, comedy writer and AJL contributor, recently won a national screenwriting competition. As the sole winner, Bloom's script Suburban Bravery is on its way to movie theaters across the country. Starring John Lutz (Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock) and Miriam Tolan (Second City, Late Night with Conan O'Brien), the two-minute comedy is about a suburban family whose idyllic breakfast is interrupted by a three-inch hissing cockroach. The "Short Script Big Screen" competition was sponsored by Screenvision and is in theaters nationwide now. "The only people happier than me about this experience are my parents," Bloom tells us. "They're experiencing kvell-overload."
