Loose ends
  • John Travolta told to shut about ... about Scientology.
  • And speaking of Scientology, if the descendants of Hitler's would-be assassin don't like you (and we're talking to you Tom Cruise), that can't be a good sign.
  • Scarlett Johansson's babysitting duties are postponed. The film adaptation of the popular book The Nanny Diaries is being pushed from an April release to a September one instead.
  • Another pilot season, and yet another lame Jason Alexander sitcom.

They said it
“The real reason, to be perfectly honest, is that as a child when I first learned that there were people who risked their own lives and even the lives of their children, their families, to save Jews during the Holocaust, it was a profound moment for me. It made me question whether I am the kind of human being who would take such risks.” -- NBC's Ann Curry on why she's reporting from Darfur so much.

Loose ends
  • Mazal tov to Tori Spelling and her first second husband on the birth of their first child who was given the nice Jewish name of Liam Aaron McDermott.
  • Shia LaBeouf may be playing Indiana Jones' son in the much anticipated next film in the franchise, but for now he's busy with three other flicks.
  • Scarlett Johansson doesn't get much rest. In addition to working on yet another Woody Allen film, she's now in talks to star on Broadway in a revival of South Pacific.
  • Emmy Rossum's tongue apparently has a new friend.
  • The new CD by Jewish chanteuse Amy Winehouse is being called marvelous and irresistible.
  • Sacha Baron Cohen (aka Borat) is poised to make even more rubles with his next film. As Borat would say, "We like."

Loose ends

Sorry for the slow posting as of late. We're in the midst of an office move so things are a bit hectic.

Loose Ends: The Film Edition (in honor of the Academy Awards)
  • The Academy gives the highest honor (for short films) to the theme of love between two rival falafel stands in West Bank Story.
  • Looks like the frat boys lost their lawsuit; Borat's "DeeVeeDee" is set to release next week.
  • Need a dose of foreign language WWII film with a beautiful witty Jewish girl who tricks the enemy? Try The Black Book.
  • Jake Gyllenhaal's new thriller Zodiac opens this week. Apparently it was difficult to film.
  • We are (impatiently) waiting for The Other Boleyn Girl to be released. You know, the film with Scarlett Johansson AND Natalie Portman.
