Leo land
Leonardo Dicaprio was accosted in The Charlie Rose Show green room by some Israeli delegates hoping to get the Oscar nominated actor to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Hey, guys, lay off. Dicaprio is still front and center with the tsunami relief efforts. Only world disaster at a time, people.

Plauding Portman
Natalie Portman has received an Oscar nomination for her turn as a stripper in Mike Nichol's Closer ... which means we have an excuse to talk about her for another month.

First come love...
Jewish actress Summer Phoenix (brother of River and Joaquin) married Ben Affleck's little brother Casey. Philosophical question: When a B-list actor marries a C-list actor, what are their kids?

Head case
Apparently, former New York mayor Ed Koch can't take a joke. WHile attending 700 Sundays, Billy Crystal's one-man Broadway show, Koch was offended by a joke Crystal made about Eleanor Roosevelt performing oral sex on her husband. In a letter to Crystal, Koch wrote, "The sexual references to her providing oral sex to FDR simply clash with your primarily Jewish audience's not being able to consider their own parents as having engaged in sex, and certainly not oral sex." Huh?

Business advice
From MSNBC's Scoop: "Madonna’s hubby Guy Ritchie has become so devoted to the teachings of Kabbalah that he has a rabbi from the Centre attend business meetings with him." Yes, because when Roseanne did that a few years back it really proved helpful to her career.

Queer eye for SpongeBob
SpongeBob SquarePants just can't catch a break. First the beloved character was being kidnapped from the roofs of the nation's Burger Kings. Now, it's conservative Christian groups who are complaining. It seems SpongeBob is part of a new music video -- to be sent to 61,000 U.S. schools -- which promotes tolerance and diversity. Sounds kosher, so what's the problem? The right-wing groups are saying that while the video promotes many good things, it also promotes the one thing they don't like: homosexuality. Let's take a quick poll: Do Christian groups approve of anything in pop culture?

Booing Borat Part Deux
As if angering a crowd of rodeo attendees wasn't enough, Ali G (aka Jewish comedian Sacha Baron Cohen) is finding himself in some more trouble now. Word is filming of the hush-hush Ali G film has been halted since Cohen reportedly fired the director over creative differences. As if that wasn't enough Cohen also caused a ruckus when his Borat character rankled the staff of the Waldorf Astoria by asking a male massage therapist for a happy ending, mistook the elevator for his room, and walked around the lobby wearing only his briefs and black socks. It may have been rude, but we still can't wait to see the footage.

Character actors
Talk about an odd cast of characters. Madonna has signed up David Bowie and Snoop Dogg to do voiceover work for the animated version of her Kabbalah-themed children book The English Roses. But the big coup came when Britney Spears signed up for lead role of Binah. Yes, because that's what little kids need. More Britney.

Queer Abe to get film makeover
Now that rumors are quickly spreading about Honest Abe Lincoln's possible homosexuality, director Steven Spielberg is moving forward with his plans for a Lincoln biopic. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Booing Borat
Jewish comedian Sasha Baron Cohen (aka Ali G.) is getting himself in trouble again. While filming an upcoming episode of his hit HBO show dressed as Kazakhstani reporter Borat Sagdiyev, Cohen sang the national anthem at a rodeo event over the weekend in North Carolina. After telling the crowd he supported America's war on terrorism, he said, "I hope you kill every man, woman and child in Iraq, down to the lizards ... And may George W. Bush drink the blood of every man, woman and child in Iraq." He then sang a garbled version of "The Star-Spangled Banner." Witnesses said that if Cohen had stayed out there a minute longer, there would have been a riot. As for us, we can hardly wait to see the episode.

Buddha Britney
Britney Spears Federline was seen buying a Star of David necklace to match her Jewriffic red Kabbalah bracelet and kabbalah tattoo on her neck. But don't get to excited. The Baptist-born Spears was also seen purchasing some Buddha jewelery and has been spotted reading An Invitation to Practice Zen for Beginners.
Perhaps she should be reading The Complete Idiot's Guide to Religion.

Holocaust denial
The Kabbalah Centre is getting flack for a reported comment by one of its leaders, Eliyahu Yardeni, Madonna's rabbi. Apparently he told the BBC that the only reason Jews suffered in the Holocaust was because they weren't studying Kabbalah.

KISS and tell
KISS frontman and the wild Jewish rocker Gene Simmons is being sued by a former lover who claims she was misrepresented as a loose and unchaste woman in a recent KISS documentary. She claims, in court papers, that she believed she was in "an exclusive, monogamous, romantic relationship" with Simmons for three years. Um, not to be crass, but what was she somking?

Gibson's passion
Mel Gibson took home the People's Choice award for best drama for his little-known film about a guy named Jesus. Gibson told the crowd that this award "means a lot more to me this time than anything before." We assume he's referring to his dramatic turn in that 1990 classic co-starring Goldie Hawn Bird on a Wire.

Conservative Christian grpups are up in arms (so what's nu?) amid media reports that raunchy rocker Kid Rock will perform at President Bush's inaguration. Meanwhile, liberal groups hoping to make Bush look like an idiot are pushing for Kid Rock to perform.

Robber barons
Don Imus is in hot water after he used the term "thieving Jews" on his talk show and they commented "I apologize . . . I realize that's redundant." In a rare and unprecedented move (note our use of sarcasm), the Anti Defamation League's Abe Foxman wrote a letter to Imus stating, "We realize that your show often uses humor to debunk stereotypes by poking fun at them, and we do have a sense of humor." What? The ADL has a sense of humor? Since when?

In what appears to be an apparent contradictory statement, a report out of England claims that Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie renewed their vows at a Kabbalah-themed wedding ceremony recently because "Christmas is a special time for them." In a related story, Jesus was born Jewish.
