TV: Scott Wolf
by Gerri Miller
Series Premiere: The Nine on ABC, Oct. 4 @ 10:00 pm
Last seen playing a doctor on Everwood, Scott Wolf is back in medic mode as surgeon Jeremy Kates on the ABC drama The Nine, about the survivors of a hostage situation in a bank. “My character comes from a place of power and confidence but he comes out of the bank wounded in a way that undermines his entire being. His power has been stripped, and a doubt has been cast over his life. He’s not necessarily the hero that he thought he’d be,” Wolf relates. “I’ve never had a bigger challenge or a more exciting one.”
Wolf, whose maternal grandfather was an anesthesiologist, is not only playing a doctor but a Jewish doctor, confirmed in the premiere by the line, ‘Jews bring food. That’s what we do.” Wolf is himself half Jewish, on his father’s side. “We did Passover, Easter, Christmas, Hanukkah. We got a lot of presents,” notes the New Jersey-raised actor, who currently splits his time between L.A. and Park City, Utah, where he’s lived since joining Everwood.
Asked about family plans with his wife Kelley, “We’re thinking about it,” he replies, then asks suspiciously, “Who are you working for? My mother or hers?”
