The
Jewish Radio Mafia: Stu Klitenic
A.K.A.:
"The Coach"
From: Washington, D.C.
Age: 49 years
Been in Radio: 15 years
Heard On: 640 GST Braves Radio, Braves
Pre & Post Games
ATLANTA LOVES YOU TOO: "I played
sports in high school and college, and I got an opportunity
to do TV," recalls Klitenic. "It took off.
I was just getting ready to move and Braves radio approached
me. My wife and I love Atlanta. I'd rather do radio
here than TV anywhere."
ON THE JOYS OF BRAVES RADIO: "You're
handling one sport and one team," says Klitenic.
"You get to know each one of the Braves, and you
know they're going to be a great team. Each one of those
guys is worth getting to know, and you know that going
in."
ON THE PERILS OF SPORTSCASTING: "When
I was in Detroit, we were doing a live shot before a game.
We're in enemy territory, and you've got the name of your
local station blazoned on your mic," laughs Klitenic.
"You know you're going to get attacked."
A PROMISE TO A FATHER: When Klitenic
had his bar mitzvah, "My dad asked me a favor. He
says, 'I want you to put on your tefillin.' I go, 'Yeah
Dad, sure.' He goes, 'No, I mean every day.'" Klitenic
pauses, "That was 36 years ago, and I haven't missed
a day since."
