THE CRUISE CONNECTION: Before radio Baron
tried his hand at acting, appearing in episodes of Diff'rent
Strokes and even a made a cameo alongside Tom Cruise in
Risky Business. "He had me leaning towards Scientology
at one point, but I wasn't impressed with their holiday
schedule," says Baron who's not afraid to take off
both days of Rosh Hashanah.
LEAP OF FAITH: In the last six years
Baron has reconnected with his Jewish faith, studying
once a week with his rabbi and he and his wife even sought
out a home in walking distance to a synagogue for Shabbat
services. "My goal is to be throwing rocks at cars
by next Tu B'Shvat ... whenever that is," he says
wryly.
FUNNIEST RADIO MOMENT: "When 99X
was served an eviction notice from our old building because
I tried to take a horse up the elevator." Don't ask.
SOFT SPOT: He'll spare no expense when
it comes to seeing Bruce Springsteen in concert. Baron
has traveled all across North America to see the Boss
including seven stops on his last tour. "With no
disrespect intended, it's a spiritual experience,"
he explains.
ON THE TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS OF BEING IN THE
JEWISH RADIO MAFIA: Baron has his doubts about
some of the members. "We suspect Bert may actually
be an informant."  |
